Day 4 – Brooklyn Flea, Chelsea Antique Market & Times Square

Our weekend started by jumping on the ⓒ train all the way to New York's southeast-most borough, Brooklyn.

All of my travel guides and friends recommending checking out Brooklyn at some point, and I did not want to miss borough's famous Brooklyn Flea Market, which happens on Saturdays at Fort Greene. There were over 150 vendors with some amazing antiques and Americana ephemera from the past century. The food was also amazing! Below are some of the treasures we saw.

We spent about 2 hours at the flea, checking out each vendor's booth and sampling a lot of delicious fare. After a beautiful morning, we took the train back to Manhattan. Since I had antiques on my mind, we stopped at another recommended hotspot: The Garage Antique Flea Market (at 25th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues). The market took up two floors of a vacated parking garage. There were hundreds of vendors with a variety of one-of-a-kind items. Below are some of the goods.

We were pretty exhausted after this – who knew looking at antiques would take so much energy! We went back to the apartment, had a siesta, cooked a light dinner, and after dark, went to explore one of NYC's brightest, famed districts: The Great White Way – Broadway.

Times Square was about 15 minutes from where we were staying, so we walked there to get the full effect. Strolling down Broadway from Columbus Circle, things slowly started getting brighter and louder. At 53rd Street, the street was already bustling with thousands of tourists and theatre goers. And by the time we made it to the heart of Times Square at 42nd Street, it was near chaos. Below is a taste of the fun.

Times Square was exhausting but unforgettable. To cap the night off, we grabbed a drink at Flaming Saddles in Hell's Kitchen (what a riot!) and then called it a day. Saturdays in NYC are so much fun!

p.s. First celebrity spotting: Kathy Najimy!
